I do both. This trip was catch and release. Occasionally I take some because I love smoked trout

I get that, just don’t like the idea of being a fox, ie just catching and killing when they may not get eaten.

Living in New Zealand, fly fishing is not as popular as i believe it is in the snowy mountains!

You are probably right. There is a higher population of people in NSW and not as many areas that support trout. NZ on the other hand has trout everywhere and very few people!

Snowy mountain streams are always great. Creeks in the south east fish well unless there has been a drought
